SOUTH WAYNE — During Black Hawk’s 75-19 win over Barneveld, it didn’t take long for Natalie Leuzinger to score the three points needed to eclipse former Warriors star Jen Wellnitz at the top of the program’s scoring leaderboard. Only 2 minutes and 33 seconds, actually.

After Leuzinger hit the front end of a pair of free throws to give her team an early 5-3 advantage, coach Mike Flanagan called a timeout to honor the star senior, who will walk on with the Wisconsin Badgers next season. Leuzinger now has 1,596 career points after her 18-point performance against the Eagles. Conner Meyer’s career mark of 1,662 remains the school’s all-time highest total. Meyer graduated after last season.

The unbeaten and top-ranked Warriors (13-0) took full control of the game after Leuzinger’s mark and headed into halftime with a 47-7 advantage. Sisters Bailey and Hannah Butler each scored 14 points for Black Hawk.

Maddy Huschitt, who hit a pair of 3-pointers, entered the week second in the state in Division 5 in 3-point percentage at .443, with Bailey Butler third (.435) and Leuzinger ninth (.388). The WIAA invites the top two shooters in each division with more than 75 attempts to participate in the 3-Point Challenge prior to the state championship games in March.

Argyle 59, Pecatonica 49

ARGYLE — Senior guard McKenzee Granberg exploded for 18 points to lead the Orioles to a Six Rivers East win over their top rivals.

Granberg entered the contest average 8.6 points per game this season, and just 3.9 in her career. Sophomore teammate Maggie Godfrey finished with 16 points, while Chesney Leigh, also a sophomore, had 10.

Pecatonica (4-9, 1-5) had four players score in the game, all of which reached double digits: Freshman Chloe Schraepfer had 13, while junior Sydney Eaton and sophomores Tessa Green and Lexi Peterson each finished with 12.

Argyle (11-5, 6-1) led 26-24 at halftime.

Albany 53, Monticello 22

ALBANY — The Comets led 21-7 at halftime and closed the game on a 32-15 run Jan. 21.

Payton Wachholz led all scorers with 18 points for Albany. Teammate Brianna Dahl finished with 12 points, Kristin O’Bel had nine and Jada Flannery added eight.

The Comets were 12 of 15 from the free throw line and drilled five 3s, three of which came from Wachholz in the second half.

Mackie Errthum led Monticello with 11 points and was 5 for 10 from the free throw line. She was the only Ponies player to attempt a free throw or make more than one field goal in the contest.
