LAKE GENEVA — The Brodhead-Juda girls cross country team ran to a first  place finish with 40 points in the Duck Pond Invitational cross country meet hosted by Big Foot near Lake Geneva on Sept. 26. The Cardinals boys team took sixth place.

In the girls race, six runners finished in the top 20 for Brodhead-Juda. Sophomore Oliva Brooks led the Cardinals by finishing in second place with a time of 21:14.30. Sophomore Ryleigh Brown was eighth in 22:00.30, and sophomore Rachel Hatter took 10th at 22:31.90. Other finishers for the Cardinals were sophomore Isabelle Yoshida (16th, 23:41.20), junior Ciarrah Condon (17th, 23:48.10), freshman Josie Hatter (19th, 24:19.70), and freshman Quinn Burchard (20th, 24:25.60). 

Rockford Christian won the race with 26 points. The Cardinals boys team scored 167 points. Senior Mavrik Plummer continued his great season with a second place finish in 17:30.30. Next was senior Jorge Villalva (36th, 19:31.30), Gauge Smith (44th, 19:48.40), and freshman Ashton Henze (59th, 20:58.60). 

Brodhead-Juda competed in the Jefferson Invitational on Sept. 30 and runs in the Platteville Invitational on Oct. 4.

Monroe Girls 16th, Monroe Boys 33rd at Midwest Invitational Cross Country

JANESVILLE — The No. 2-ranked Monroe Cheesemakers cross country team took 16th place out of 26 teams that ran at the Midwest Invitational at Janesville at Blackhawk Golf Course on Saturday, Sept. 27. Aniyah Jackson-Bey was the top runner for the Cheesemakers as she placed 56th with a time of 19:55.80. Braylin Cleary was 79th in 20:27.30. 

Darlington’s Adalee Berget placed 26th with a time of 19:12.90. Alaina McGowan of Darlington finished 57th in 19:56.10. The Redbird girls finished in 15th place. 

The No. 10-ranked Monroe boys were 33rd out of 54 teams. Tre Dammen was the top finisher for the “Hounds” as he placed 74th out of over 350 runners. 

Monroe will participate in the Platteville Invitational on Saturday.
