CUBA CITY — The Glarner Knights rolled to a 68-50 nonconference win over Cuba City Jan. 21.

New Glarus led 35-20 at halftime thanks to 13 points from Jaden Kreklow, eight from Mason Martinson and seven from Zach Feller.

In the second half Martinson scored 14 for a game-high total of 22 points. Kreklow finished with 19, Feller had nine and Trevor Gassman had 10.

The Knights (13-2) needed just three 3-pointers in the game, while between transition and working the ball into the post had 29 baskets inside the arc. New Glarus also shot just four free throws in the game.

Cuba City (8-5) was led in scoring by Brady Olson’s 11. The Cubans hit just one 3 and finished 13 of 16 from the charity stripe.

Girls Basketball

Highland 73, Juda 34

HIGHLAND — Montana Steinmann scored 19 points and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line, but the Panthers couldn’t pick up the nonconference win Jan. 21.

Steinmann had eight points in the first half and Hannah Powers had six, but Juda fell behind 36-16 by the break. Kaelyn Esser had 24 points for Highland, while Meg Tarrell had 14 and Madalyn Drury added 11. 

In other area basketball action, Pecatonica’s girls team lost a nonconference game 46-16 to Orfordville Parkview Jan. 21.
