MONROE — The Southwest Conference (SWC) recently released its all-conference selections, and Brodhead-Juda and New Glarus football teams had several make the list.
Four Knights made first-team all-conference — one on offense and three on defense.
Will Pinnow was the team’s top receiver with 736 yards and six touchdowns on 51 receptions. He averaged 14.4 yards per catch and 73 yards per game. Simon Zimmerman led the Knight offense with 102 tackles, nine of them for a loss. He had two sacks and one fumble recovery. Andrew Sarbacker was right behind Zimmerman with 101 tackles and one for a loss. Andrew and Charlie Sarbacker led the team with three interceptions each. Charlie had 61 tackles with three of them for a loss and one sack. He also forced one fumble and had a pick-6.
Milo Johnson, Andrew Sarbacker, Brent Weeden, Kamm Nehmer and Luke Burton were second-team selections. At running back, Johnson led the Knights with 694 rushing yards on 118 carries for 5.9 ypc. He also recorded two touchdowns. Andrew Sarbacker was the No. 2 receiver in terms of yards. He tallied 681 yards on 48 catches for 14.2 yards per catch. Andrew Sarbacker had eight receiving touchdowns — the most on the team. Weeden was recognized as both an offensive and defensive lineman. He had 64 tackles with three of them for a loss and one fumble recovery. At defensive end, Burton had 51 tackles with six of them for a loss and a team-best 3.5 sacks. In two games, Nehmer was 7-for-7 on extra points.
Charlie Sarbacker, Luke Burton and Alex Pauli also received honorable mention.
New Glarus finished fourth in conference with a 4-3 record — their most notable win over Platteville (5-2). The Knights qualified for WIAA Division 5 playoffs, where they were ousted by Milwaukee Academy of Science.
David Masloske was the lone first-team all-conference selection for Brodhead-Juda. At tight end, he tallied 56 yards on 31 carries with four rushing touchdowns — the most on the team. Masloske also hauled in 29 catches for 309 yards with two receiving touchdowns.
Brody Riese, Chase Wilhite and Jordan Dix were second-team all-conference members. Riese was the Cardinals’ top receiver with 558 yards on 36 catches. He scored five touchdowns with three successful, 2-point conversions. On the offensive line, Wilhite blocked, opening up the field for running backs and giving quarterback Gabe Bockhop enough time to pass. Defensively, Dix recorded 44 tackles with six of them for a loss. He led the team with three sacks.
Teammates Bockhop, Jayden Brown and Masloske also earned honorable mention.
Brodhead-Juda finished league play with a 2-5 record — its most notable win a shutout against New Glarus. With just two wins, the Cardinals did not earn a berth to the postseason.
