MONROE — Sydney Hilliard was selected first-team all-state in girls basketball by the Associated Press March 21.
Black Hawk’s Natalie Leuzinger and Bailey Butler also received all-state honors, being among 45 players to received honorable mention accolades.
Hilliard, who has committed to play at the University of Wisconsin, was joined on the AP first-team by Lexi Donarski of La Crosse Aquinas, Sydnee King of Milwaukee King and unanimous selections of Monona Grove’s McKenna Warnock and Milwaukee Academy of Science’s Shemera Williams.
Williams was named AP Player of the Year and finished her career as the No. 2 scorer in state history. Beaver Dam coach Tim Chase was named the Coach of the Year.
The Associated Press doesn’t separate its all-state teams based on divisions, so those received honors are judged to be the top players in the state regardless of school student population.
Second-team all-state players were Natalie Anderson (Mukwonago), Chelby Koker (Shoreland Lutheran), Emma Nagel (Bay Port), Tara Stauffacher (Beaver Dam) and Maty Wilke (Beaver Dam).
Third-team players were Anna Lutz (Marshall), Shea Dechant (Kimberly), Kiarra Otto (Laconia), Jaddan Simmons (Green Bay Southwest) and Caroline Strande (Racine Lutheran).
The fourth-team included Ellie Clements (Whitefish Bay), Teryn Karlstad (Eau Claire Regis), Mia Morel (Marshall), Cassie Schlitz (Luxemburg-Casco) and Lexi Wagner (Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau).
