Late Monroe and Orangeville football coach Toby Golembiewski was among those selected for induction into the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2026. Golembiewski led the Cheesemakers from 2016-2023, including a state championship in 2022. He died June 16, 2024 after an 18-month battle with colon cancer. In the Hall of Fame, Toby Golembiewski will join his father, Jerry Golembiewski, a 2000 inductee. He will also join four former Monroe coaches: H.L. “Jake” Jacobson (1983), John Brodie (1992), Pat Martin (2002) and Dick Carroll (2003).

MONROE — Former Monroe football coach Toby Golembiewski will be a part of the 47th enshrinement into the Wisconsin Football Coaches Hall of Fame. The induction of 12 new members to the Hall of Fame will take place on Saturday, April 18 in Madison at the Marriott West. There will be a reception at 4:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 5:30 p.m.

Golembiewski died June 16, 2024 after a courageous battle with colon cancer. He was 56 years old. He coached the Monroe Cheesemakers for eight years and compiled a record of 63-24, winning a Division 3 state championship with an undefeated season in 2022. Prior to that, he coached at Orangeville for 16 years.

“Very much it is an honor for him to be inducted,” said Max Golembiewski, Toby’s son who played quarterback at Monroe under his father.

Toby Golembiewski joins his father, Jerry, in the WFCA Hall of Fame. The elder Golembiewski coached at four high school programs: Racine St. Catherine’s (1963), Milwaukee West Division (1970-82), Hartland Arrowhead (1982-85) and Milwaukee’s John Marshall High School (1985-1999). Overall, Jerry Golembiewski had a 106-106 win-loss record, including a successful 82-46 record at John Marshall High School. He also coached at UW-Milwaukee from 1964-70.

Toby Golembiewski had a career record of 130-112, including a 63-24 mark at Monroe. Toby Golembiewski spent 16 years as the head coach at Orangeville (Ill.), and also had experience coaching youth football, college football (UW-Platteville) and semi-pro football in Europe (Arland Jets, Sweden).

Toby Golembiewski also becomes the fourth Monroe head coach to enter the WFCA Hall of Fame. H.L. Jacobson led the team 100 years ago and was inducted in 1983; John Brodie (1968-73) got the nod in 1992; Pat Martin (1978-2003) guided the program to five state titles and entered the Hall in 2002, and Martin’s longtime assistant coach, Dick Carroll (1979-2003), joined him in 2003.

The WFCA Hall of Fame banquet is open to the public. Tickets are $75 each. For ticket information, call (608) 635-7318.
