MONROE — For the New Glarus Glarner Knights, scoring wasn’t a problem as four players scored in double figures.  For the Monroe Cheesemakers, scoring was tough to do as the Glarner Knights pounded the Cheesemakers 69-32 in nonconference girls basketball on Monday, Dec 22.

The Knights had a balanced offensive attack with junior Ellie Brenkman scoring 16 points, junior Kate Parman scoring 14 points, and junior Kalia Malaise also scoring 14 points. New Glarus also got 10 points from sophomore Annabelle Curl.

New Glarus grabbed a 42-17 lead at halftime as Malaise scored 10 points. Monroe simply couldn’t match the offensive output they had in their previous game against Benton when they scored 30 points in the first half.

The Cheesemakers were led by senior Alexis Gertsch with seven points and sophomore Brynlee Scace with six points.

The Glarner Knights (5-3) have Barneveld on their schedule as part of a boys-girls doubleheader on Tuesday, Dec. 30. Monroe (2-5) will host North Boone, Ill. in a nonconference game on Wednesday, Dec. 31 at 11 a.m.
