Fury take Badger Conference title

SUN PRAIRIE — With the Badger Conference title hanging in the balance, the Rock County Fury picked up a 2-1 win over second-place Cap City Feb. 11.

Anika Einbeck scored the opening goal of the game in the first period. Einbeck took a pass from Alyssa Knauf and charged the net, going top-shelf to score a short-handed goal with just 1:03 left.

Cap City scored just 5:34 into the second period on a power play to even the scoreboard.

In the third period, Sara Nerad scored the game winner with assists coming from Mya Maslonka and Olivia Combs.

Olivia Cronin had 29 saves in net for the Fury, which were outshot 30-27 in the contest. 

Alyssa and Haley Knauf finished the regular season atop the team point list, with 33 points each. Alyssa had 16 goals and 17 assists, while Haley had 11 goals and 22 assists. Einbeck was next on the team with 32 points (21 G, 11 A).

Rock County (13-9-2) was set to host the Badger Lightning in the first round of the WIAA playoffs Feb. 14 at Edwards Ice Arena in Beloit.
