BELOIT — With two road wins, the Rock County Fury extend their winning streak to six games and improve to 8-2-0 overall.
On Thursday, Dec. 14, the Fury recorded a 5-1 win over Beaver Dam. Rock County took a slim one-goal lead into the second period, where Sophia Ferrera scored on a power play. The goal proved to be the game winner, but Emma Kligora, Maizy Fonseca and Ava Kligora padded the Fury’s lead.
Ava Kligora paced the team with three points from two goals and one assist. Emma Kligora, who was voted the rSchoolToday Athlete of the Week for Dec. 4-10, Fonseca and Macy Murphy also tallied multiple points. In net, Jillian Traver made 21 saves for a .955 save percentage.
FURY 3, LIGHTNING 2
On Saturday, Dec. 16, Rock County sought revenge against Lakeshore Lightning, who defeated the Fury 5-1 earlier this season.
“This was a great battle for us tonight,” Rock County Fury head coach Luke Steuer said. “We were able to make adjustments period to period and got better as the game went on.”
Murphy scored the only goal in the first period, coming straight from the penalty box. She received the breakaway pass, attempted her first shot and scored on her own rebound.
The second period was a wash, but Lakeshore’s Olivia Dykema knotted the game at 2 with the first goal in the third. Eight minutes later, Anna Cole scored the game winner on an assist from Mya Roller to complete the revenge victory.
Murphy was the leading point getter with a goal and an assist. Traver tallied 47 saves for a .957 save percentage.
