BELOIT — Rock County snapped a six-game losing streak with a 7-0 win over Beaver Dam on Monday, Jan. 9. The team also played to raise mental health awareness, raising $1,800 for NAMI Rock County.
“After a tough stretch of games, the girls rebounded tonight with a great win,” head coach Luke Steurer said. “They got off to a fast start and kept the pressure on, playing hard all three periods. We talked about consistency though out the game, and they did a great job of starting that tonight. We were moving the puck quickly and playing good positional hockey.”
In the first period, Emma Kligora accounted for two of the Fury’s four goals. She received assists from Ava Kligora and Lily Clark. In between Emma Kligora’s goals, Mazy Fonseca and Macy Murphy scored.
Claudia Boehlke extended Rock County’s lead in the second with a goal. Murphy then completed her hat trick with two goals two minutes apart.
Both teams were scoreless in the third period.
Emma Kligora led the Fury with five points from two goals and three assists. Ava Kligora and Macy Murphy tallied three points each — Ava Kligora all from assist and Murphy all from goals. Jillian Traver recorded 17 saves for her second shutout of the year.
SUN PRAIRIE 11, BELOIT MEMORIAL 2
BELOIT — Jayden Piccione’s first-period goal tied the game at one, but the Cardinals went on to outscore the Knights 10-1 for a conference victory on Tuesday, Jan. 10.
Sun Prairie scored another two goals in the first period for a 3-1 lead. In the second, the Cardinals extended their lead to 6-1 before Cole Rowald scored Beloit’s second and final goal. The Cardinals totaled five goals in the second period, followed by three in the third.
Tyler Rauls led Sun Prairie with a hat trick, scoring in each period. Adrien Krietlow was the point leader, tallying five points from two goals and three assist. The Cardinals put 54 shots on goal. Jameson Flanagan, the Knight’s goaltender, stopped 43 of them.
For Beloit, Max Allen totaled two points from assists. The Knights put 47 shots on Sun Prairie’s goalie Easton Lemke. He stopped 45 of them for a .957 save percentage.
