Four Redbirds receive recognition

DARLINGTON — With a third-place finish in the SWAL Conference, Darlington had four players make all-conference. Seniors Aubrey McCarthy, Jaidyn Evenstad and Zoie Zuberbuhler made first team, while sophomore Maddie Gratz received honorable mention.

McCarthy, who tallied her 1,000th career assist this season, led Darlington in assists with 326 over 85 sets. She also paced the Redbirds in aces, averaging one per set. McCarthy was also third in kills (156) and second in digs (279). 

Evenstad recorded the best hitting percentage on the team at 0.181. She was second in several statistical categories, including kills (186) and aces (37). Evenstad also tallied 217 digs and 21 blocks. 

Libero Zuberbuhler led Darlington in digs with 318 over 85 sets. She and Evenstad were targeted most for serve receive, with over 10 receptions per match.

Gratz paced the Redbirds in kills (196) and blocks (47). 

Darlington concluded its season in a five-set Division 3 regional final against SWAL rival Mineral Point. The Redbirds compiled a 20-10 overall record with an 8-4 mark in conference. The team graduates four seniors — McCarthy, Evenstad, Zuberbuhler and Ava Hendrickson.
