FORT ATKINSON — The Monroe-New Glarus swim team won its final dual meet of the season, 114.5-55.5 against Fort Atkinson.

“We had an excellent last dual meet of the season,” Monroe-New Glarus coach Kendra Kalvin said. “Our team showed up and swam very well after having some intense practices the last few days.”

The Cheesemakers won 10 of 11 races, with Fort Atkinson winning only the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:48.95). Monroe’s relay team of Alyssa Roelli, Peyton Yaun, Anna Newcomer and Kendra Wenger finished second (1:50.81).

Roelli won the 100-butterfly (1:04.28), with Yaun third (1:09.15) in that race. Roelli also won the 200-free individual race (2:09.08), with Wenger taking second (2:11.74).

The Cheesemakers swept the top three spots in the 200 Individual Medley, with Mekenzie Hammer finishing first (2:15.61), Newcomer second (2:26.92) and Taylor Rufer third (2:40.36). The team also went 1-2-3 in the 100-back, with Hammer winning the race (1:02.61), followed by Kaitlyn Elgin (1:06.82) and Rufer (1:14.18).

Morgan Erstad won the 50-free (26.07) and the 100-free (56.79), with Wenger taking third in the 100-free (1:00.85). Elgin won the 500-free (5:58.24), with Elsa Schaefer third (6:28.46). In the 100-breaststroke, Karley Michels took the top spot (1:13.08) with Yaun third (1:16.52).

Monroe-New Glarus also won the 400-free relay (2:01.32) and the 200-medley relay (2:01.23). Erstad, Michels, Hammer and Yaun teamed up in the medley relay, while Erstad, Hammer, Newcomer and Roelli won the 400-relay together. Laurel Houston, Wenger, Elgin and Michels swam to second place (4:22.13) in the 400-relay.

“We saw great swims in the 200-IM, 100-back and 100-breaststroke,” Kalvin said. “Now begins the end of season meets and we are so excited to see how our team does.”

The co-op swims at the nine-team Platteville Invitational Oct. 26, and the Baraboo sectional follows a week later, Nov. 2.
