Eight local players named WBCA All-State
Wellnitz, Lange earn first-team selections in D4, D5

MONROE — Eight area girls were named to the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-State team for their accomplishments on the court this season.

Brooke Wellnitz in Division 4 and Maddy Lange in Division 5 were first-team selections. Alecia Dahl, Kylie Butler, Toria Devoe, Abby Hollis, Molly Olson and Dalana Trumpy were all honorable mention picks.

Wellnitz, an Argyle-Pecatonica sophomore, was the Six Rivers East co-player of the year alongside Barneveld junior Izabel Durst, herself a first-team all-state honoree in Division 5. Wellnitz averaged 18.3 points, 14.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game, and shot 50.7% from the field. She led the league in assists and rebounds, grabbing nearly 170 more boards than the next closest player.

Lange, a Black Hawk senior, was third in the league in rebounding (8.0 rpg) and second in scoring (19.0). She also made 46.2% of her three-point attempts. She surpassed the 1,000-career points this season. Durst averaged 18.8 ppg and 5.5 rpg.

Also in Division 5, Albany-Monticello’s trio of Abby Hollis, Molly Olson and Dalana Trumpy were all honorable mention selections. Olson finished second in conference in assists per game (4.5), with Hollis third 4.2). Trumpy was sixth in rebounding average per game (7.4). Trumpy (13.0 ppg), Hollis (12.5 ppg) and Olson (10.0 ppg) all averaged double figures in scoring. Hollis and Trumpy both surpassed the 1,000-points scored mark this season. Hollis later competed in the WIAA’s 3-point Challenge at the state meet as one of Wisconsin’s premier shoots from beyond the arc.

In Division 4, Argyle-Pecatonica junior Kylie Butler and Belleville junior Toria Devoe were honorable mention. Butler led her conference in scoring (22.5 ppg) and was fourth in assists (4.1 apg). Devoe was second in the Capitol South in scoring this season (17.1 ppg), hitting 45.3% of her three-point attempts along the way, the top mark in the division. Devoe crossed the 1,000 career points threshold.

Dahl, a junior, led the Rock Valley-Rock in scoring with 19.0 ppg and assists at 5.3 per game. She was second in the Rock Valley-Rock in rebounds with 9.7 per game. Dahl also eclipsed the 1,000-point mark this year.
