BELMONT — Toria Devoe continues her quest to the 1,000-point mark for her career. On Feb. 3, the Belleville junior had 10 points in a 59-55 nonconference win over Belmont (12-5), ranked 10th in D5. The next night she dropped 19 points (hitting five three-pointers) on Marshall in a dominating 76-26 victory.
Devoe is now just 31 points from the milestone, recently achieved just over a week ago by teammate Maddi DeSmet. There are four games left in the regular season, and Devoe is averaging 17.7 points per game. The Wildcats (15-5, 5-1 Capitol South) were slated to play at home Feb. 6 against Wisconsin Heights, then Feb. 11 at New Glarus.
The final two games — home vs. Cambridge (14-5, 5-1) Feb. 14 and at Waterloo (2-15, 0-6) Feb. 20 — could be the determining factor in settling the Capitol South champion. Cambridge defeated Belleville earlier this season by three points, but both teams are tied in a virtual lock atop the standings, with Marshall (6-14, 3-3) and New Glarus (6-11, 3-3) each sitting two games back.
Against Belmont, Addison Edge led Belleville with 18 points, while Khylee Lietz had 15. DeSmet finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
In the win over Marshall, the Wildcats set a program single-game record for made three-pointers (14-for-30). Nikole Schultz hit four three-pointers and scored 14 points while dishing out six assists,. DeSmet had 17 points and six boards.

FENNIMORE — Darlington out-scored Fennimore by 19 in the first half, setting the table for a clean victory in a SWAL contest Feb. 4.
Catie Hartwig scored 17 points to lead the Redbirds, while Sadie Goebel added 12 points, nine rebounds and four steals. Maddie Gratz also had nine rebounds, and Lilly Ritchie chimed in with nine points.
Black Hawk 61, East Dubuque (Ill.) 35
SOUTH WAYNE — Maddy Lange’s 16-point, 12-rebound double-double paced the Warriors in a nonconference border battle Feb. 3.
Maddie Place also had 16 points for Black Hawk, while Reese Anderson added 12 points and seven rebounds. Lange and Hailey Wellnitz each finished with four steals.
Black Hawk jumped out to a 41-9 lead by halftime to put the game in cruise control after the intermission.
In other area girls basketball action, Stoughton defeated Brodhead 58-27 in a nonconference game Feb. 4, while Cambridge knocked off New Glarus 46-32 the same night.
