DBH wins 57th annual Lancaster Invite

LANCASTER — With 196.5 team points and four individual champions, Darlington-Black Hawk won the 57th annual Lancaster Invite on Saturday, Jan. 6.

Ethan Aird (126) received three byes before pinning both of his opponents. 

Owen Seffrood (144) received a first-round bye. He collected three pins and an 18-2 technical fall for the title. Seffrood is undefeated on the season at 23-0.

Breylin Goebel (165) followed his first-round bye with a pin. He defeated Logan Wolf of Lancaster by a 21-4 tech fall before wining over teammate Tye Crist by medical forfeit. In the championship, Goebel pinned Landon Busch of Cuba City-Benton-Southwestern in just 50 seconds.

Ross Crist (190) went 5-0 with a bye, three pins and a 19-4 tech fall.

Marcus McIntyre (138), Joe Lohmar (150) and Emmitt Allen (285) led Brodhead-Juda to a sixth-place finish with 125.5 team points.

After a first-round bye, McIntyre pinned his next two opponents in under a minute. He then advanced to the championship with a 17-2 tech fall. There, he defeated Belmont-Platteville’s Dylan Weigel by an 8-4 decision.

Lohmar maintained his perfect season (26-0) with a bye. three pins and 9-4 decision.

Allen received three byes then pinned his two opponents.

SAUK PRAIRIE EAGLE INVITE

SAUK PRAIRIE — Monroe and Pecatonica-Argyle battled in the 20-team Sauk Prairie Invite on Saturday, Jan. 6.

The Vikings finished 11th with 100.5 team points. Aidan Gruenenfelder (113) took first with two byes, a 23-8 tech fall and second-period pin. Lukas Orloff (120) fell in the championship match to Charlie Meudt of Dodgeville, 14-5, for second. Jakob Orloff (132) fell 59 seconds into the second period of his championship match to Owen West of Beloit Memorial.

The Cheesemakers finished 13th with 95.5 team points. The highest placers were Owen Voegeli (106) and Garrett Minder (138), who went 2-2 for fourth.

MAUSTON GOLDEN EAGLES INVITE

MAUSTON — Monroe’s Alexia Gallagher (107) and Althea Eckdhal (120) gained more experience in the girls-only Mauston Invite on Friday, Jan. 5.

Both went 4-1. Gallagher lost her final pool match to wrestle for third. There, she narrowly defeated Kylie Klum of Westby, 6-3. Eckdhal won all her pool matches but fell in the championship to Amelia Adams of La Crosse Logan, 16-1.
