BRODHEAD — Junior Allie Dahl reached the 1,000-point career milestone marker in Brodhead’s 85-67 Rock Valley win over Delavan-Darien Jan. 14. She joined her sister, Brianna (Albany ’22, 1,452) in reaching the elite mark.
Dahl, the league player of the year as a sophomore in the 2023-24 season, came into the game averaging more than 18 points a night for the Cardinals. She’s averaged a shooting percentage about 50% in her career, and has hit 30.2% of her 3-point attempts this season. Her 18.7 ppg average is the highest in the RVC-Rock this year, and her 9.9 rebounds per game is tied for first in the conference. She’s second in the league in assists at 4.6 per game.
Barneveld 80, Argyle-Pecatonica 68
ARGYLE — The Orioles have found themselves in a bit of a rut over the past week. The defending Six Rivers East champs — going unbeaten in 2023-24 — have lost back-to-back league games, albeit to ranked opponents, including the defending state title winners. After losing to D5 champ and top-ranked Albany-Monticello on Jan. 9, Argyle-Pecatonica lost a second straight conference game — at home no less — on Jan. 14, falling to Barneveld.
The visiting Eagles, ranked fifth in the Week 7 WisSports.net Coaches D5 Poll, jumped out to a 41-25 halftime lead. While the Orioles, ranked 5th in D4, out-scored Barneveld 43-39 in the second half, the Eagles were able to hold on for the victory.
Brooke Wellnitz poured in 26 points to lead AP, including 15 in the second half. Kylie Butler had 17 points and Loretta Tisch added 16 points — with 13 coming after the intermission.
Barneveld finished 21-for-30 from the free throw line and had four players in double figures. Izzy Durst had 21 points, while Brynn Meyer chipped in another 18.
Platteville 64, Darlington 46
PLATTEVILLE — The Redbirds took one on the chin against D3 No. 7 Platteville in a nonconference game Jan. 14. The host Hillmen outpaced visiting Darlington by 11 in the first half, then kept pouring it on in the second half.
Four Platteville players reached double figures in scoring, with another scoring nine points.
For Darlington, Lilly Ritchie and Sadie Goebel each had 11 points, while Catie Hartwig added nine. Ritchie also grabbed seven rebounds.
Three-point shooting was a struggle for both sides in the contest — Darlington was just 6-for-26 (23.0%), while Platteville finished just 4-for-23 (17.3%).
Belleville 54, New Glarus 36
BELLEVILLE — The Wildcats took the opener of the girls basketball Highway 69 rivalry series against New Glarus on Jan. 14. Trailing at halftime, Belleville dominated the second half en route to a 54-37 victory.
New Glarus led 21-17 at the intermission but made just six field goals over the final 18 minutes while going just 4-for-10 from the free throw line.
Belleville, meanwhile, had 11 field goals — including six 3-pointers — and was 9-for-11 from the charity stripe in the second half.
Maddi DeSmet led all scorers with 18 points for the Wildcats while teammates Toria Devoe and Addison Edge each had 14. Edge hit four key 3s in the second half alone, while Devoe also hit a 3 and scored 11 points in the frame.
Kalia Malaise led New Glarus with 14 points, Anya Brenkman added 10 points, and Eve Maclean tallied seven points and 13 rebounds.
Evansville 62, Monroe 25
EVANSVILLE — The Blue Devils scored a Rock Valley Conference win over the visiting Cheesemakers on Jan,. 14. Brooklyn Maves and Brynlea Crull each had double-doubles for Evansville. Maves was 5-for-9 from beyond the arc and finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Crull scored 10 points and added 11 rebounds. Hailey Klitzman chipped in 12 points, and Jer’Novia Hermanson tallied nine points, eight assists and four steals.
In other area girls basketball games, Juda lost to Wisconsin Heights 48-39 on Jan. 13 in a nonconference affair, then dropped a 64-35 decision at Black Hawk the next night.
