EDGERTON — Monroe boys placed fifth as a team with 189 points at the Rock Valley Conference wrestling tournament on Saturday, Feb. 7 at Edgerton. The Cheesemakers had one champion, Connor Eckdhal, at 165 pounds. Nestor Chagoya at 113 pounds placed sixth, Noah Schuh at 125 pounds placed fourth. Weston Huntsman at 138 pounds finished fourth. Oliver Ostby at 144 pounds was sixth. Ian Benitez at 150 pounds finished eighth. Oliver Helland wrestled at 157 pounds and finished eighth. At 175 pounds Kabian Ramos was third. At 215 pounds Joah Wellman was second, and Alex Anastacio came in third at 285 pounds.
Brodhead-Juda was 13th with 87 points. Sophomore Thomas Lohmar was 2nd at 120 pounds
Monroe had three girls who wrestled in the girls tournament on Friday Feb. 6: Evelyn Eckdhal at 136 pounds, Althea Eckdhal at 145 pounds, and Addi Treuthardt at 152 pounds all won conference championships in their weight classes.
Brodhead-Juda had seven girls compete and one of them, Ashlyn Cayetano Pueblita took the championship at 132 pounds. Hayden Lewis was second at 120 pounds, and Jai’lynn Amundson was third at 107 pounds.
Capitol Conference Tournament
LODI — The Sugar River Raiders took second place at the Capitol Conference wrestling tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at Lodi. The Raiders scored 188.5 points behind conference champion Lodi with 224.5 points.
Freshman Madox Mau became a champion at 106 pounds by defeating freshman Isaac Ziegler of Lodi with a pin in 3:18.
Senior Ashlin Mihlbauer won the championship at 150 pounds with a technical fall at 4:34 over senior Hayden Struse-Clark of Lodi.
For the championship at 175 pounds, senior Cayson Helwig defeated junior Devyn Brown of Lodi with a pin in 1:02.
Sugar River also had a girls conference champion as senior Nora Christensen won her first place match at 235 pounds with a pin in 2:28 over Haylie Reese of Lakeside Lutheran.
Scenic Ridge and Rivers Conference Tournament
Pecatonica-Argyle was second with 162 points at the Scenic Ridge and Rivers Conference Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 7
Freshman Layton Gruenenfelder was the champion at 106 pounds. Freshman Charlie Krebs won a championship at 120 pounds. At 132 pounds, senior Lukas Orloff won the championship. Senior Will Doescher was a champion at 150 pounds.
Black Hawk/Shullsburg/Warren was ninth with 84 points. Sophomore Evan Sigafus was the lone champion for Black Hawk/Shullsburg/Warren at 126 pounds.
SWC/SWAL Clash
The Darlington Redbirds finished in 13th place at the SWAL/SWC Clash on Saturday, Jan. 31 at Richland Center. Freshman Maximo Xolo was the top finisher for Darlington as he took third place at 175 pounds with a major decision 13-4 over junior Jackson Seippel of Lancaster.
