Comets, Monticello net Ws; Redbirds drop two SWAL tilts

ALBANY — The Comets routed Madison Abundant Life Christian/Saint Ambrose in a nonconference contest Feb. 8, 54-37.

Brianna Dahl had 23 points to lead all scorers, while Payton Wachholz added 16 and Kaiya Zurfluh nine. Albany led 27-12 at halftime.

Up next for the Comets (14-5) is a home game against No. 1 Black Hawk (17-0) Feb. 13. The game will host a fundraising effort to help support the family of Albany science teacher Amanda Ryan, whose husband passed away Jan. 22. There will be a silent auction, a nacho bar, and 50/50 raffle tickets being sold, with funds going to the Ryan family. The Feb. 14 Albany boys basketball game against Monticello will also hold a silent auction and 50/50 raffle for the Ryan family.


Monticello 51, Pecatonica 31

MONTICELLO — The Ponies jumped out to a 32-14 halftime lead and cruised to the conference win Feb. 7.

Harley Disch led Monticello with 14 points, while Mackie Errthum had 12, Maggie Bak 11 and Miah Brokopp eight.


Fennimore 47, Darlington 25

DARLINGTON — The Eagles went up by 11 at halftime and the Redbirds couldn’t catch back up.

Alexis Adkins had 20 points and six rebounds for Fennimore, while Brynlee Nelson added 13 points. Allison Thompson led Darlington with 10 points, and Laura Sturtz added 10.


Mineral Point 54, Darlington 39

DARLINGTON — The Pointers put four players in double figures on the night, led by Ella Chambers’ 15 points.

Darlington trailed 24-16 at halftime.

In other area scores, Evansville won 42-26 over Brodhead Feb. 6.
