ALBANY — With a 55-37 win over Belleville on Saturday, Nov. 18, Albany-Monticello improved its season record to 3-0. The Comets scored 17-straight points before the Wildcats scored seven minutes into the game on a pair of free throws from Maddi DeSmet.

Avary Briggs and Molly Olson led Albany-Monticello as double-digit scorers. Briggs scored 10 of her 12 points in the first half and was perfect at the free-throw line. Olson scored 10 points with two 3-pointers. Abby Hollis, Alana Durtschi and Karlee Wilkins tallied nine points each.

Toria Devoe scored the most of any player on the floor with 15 points, including four free throws. DeSmet also finished in double-figures with 10 points.

ALBANY-MONTICELLO 47, TURNER 29

ALBANY — The Division 5 Comets took care of business on Thursday, Nov. 16 with a win over the Division 3 Trojans. Durtschi led all scorers with 20 points, going 10-for-14 from the charity stripe with two 3-pointers. 

Hollis, Briggs and Johnson recorded six points each, while Olson, Wilkins and Anna Ellinger tallied three points each for the 47 total. 

BRODHEAD 52, BLACK HAWK 50

BRODHEAD — Despite a 3-pointer from Keira Haldiman with 2.9 seconds left, Brodhead held on for an overtime win on Friday, Nov. 17. In fact, the Cardinals trailed near the end of regulation, when Addison Yates scored on an inbounds play to tie it up.

Yates led all scorers with 22 points, going 8-for-10 from the free-throw line with two 3-pointers. Makenna Schoof also finished in double-figures with 13 points. Brodhead went to the line 28 times, cashing in on 14 opportunities. 

Black Hawk had three players finish with 10 points or more — Maddy Lange (14), Hailey Wellnitz (11) and Maddy Place (10). Wellnitz and Place fouled out, as the Warriors committed 25 team fouls.

DARLINGTON 39, SHULLSBURG 34

DARLINGTON — Despite being tied with five minutes left, the Redbirds won their home opener against the Miners on Friday, Nov. 17. Darlington never trailed and had a lead as large as 11 points.

Maddie Gratz led the team with 13 points, nine of which were scored from beyond the arc. Aubrey McCarthy, who paced Darlington with 14 rebounds, also chipped in nine points. 

NEW GLARUS 63, PLATTEVILLE 40

NEW GLARUS — With a double-double from senior Lindsey Schadewalt, the Knights charged past the Hillmen on Friday, Nov. 17.

Schadewalt scored 30 points, making both of her free throws with two 3-pointers. She also grabbed a team-best 11 rebounds. Elle Lancaster and Bella Brenkman also scored in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Three New Glarus players finished with four fouls, but Platteville shot just 7-for-20 at the free-throw line for 35%.
