ALBANY — On Dec. 3, Albany was able to get back on the winning train, halting a 3-game losing skid with a dominating 74-26 victory over Palmyra-Eagle.
The Comets rushed out to a 41-14 lead by halftime. Four different Albany players reached double figures in the game. Sophomore Alana Durtschi scored a game-high 19 points while Myah Johnson, Kaiya Zurfluh and Brianna Dahl each added 12. Gracie Freitag tallied seven points for Albany.
Black Hawk 61, Argyle 59
SOUTH WAYNE — First-year Warriors coach Cora Holland celebrated the first victory of her coaching career as Black Hawk edged Six Rivers East rival Argyle Dec. 3.
Tara Wellnitz led the Warriors in with 18 points and 13 rebounds, while three teammates also reached double figures in scoring: Raylin Peterson (14), Kendra Haldiman (13) and Tatum Baumgartner (11).
The win came despite Black Hawk shooting just 6 of 14 from the free throw line (42%), and 3-for-17 (17.6%) from beyond the arc. The Warriors led 25-19 at halftime.
Brodhead 64, Clinton 50
CLINTON — Abbie Dix scored 20 points, Onnikah Oliver 15 and Kiarra Moe 13 as the Division 4 fourth-ranked Cardinals improved to 6-0 on the season, and 3-0 in the Rock Valley South.
Jayden Nortier led the Cougars with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Clinton shot just 5 of 34 (14.7%) from beyond the arc.
Johnson Creek 51, Juda 37
JUDA — Anna Skoumal had 13 points, but the Panthers were unable to catch up to visiting Johnson Creek in a nonconference game Dec. 2.
Juda fell behind 26-17 at halftime and were outscored 25-20 in the second half.
The next night Barneveld dominated the Panthers 71-23 in a Six Rivers East contest.
Elsewhere on Dec. 3, Pecatonica upended Monticello 48-37 in a Six Rivers East game, while Darlington won a 58-57 nail-biter against SWAL rival Cuba City. On Dec. 4, Monroe lost at Monona Grove 88-14.
