ALBANY — Junior Ty Durtschi scored 20 points and senior Tyler Patchen added 15 points to guide the Albany Comets to a 51-39 win over the Monticello Ponies in a Six Rivers East game on Monday, Feb. 9.
The Comets took a 28-22 lead into the locker room at halftime and used clutch free throw shooting from Durtschi, who went 4-5 and senior Kaleb Broughton, who went 2-2 late in the game to keep the Ponies from mounting a comeback.
Junior Hunter Grossen was the leading scorer for the Ponies with 22 points, including four of his team’s seven three-pointers.
It was the last game between these two boys basketball teams as Albany and Monticello will form a co-op next year, just like the Albany-Monticello Space Stallions girls program.
Albany (6-12, 4-10) played at conference leader Barneveld on Tuesday, February 10, losing 70-38. The Comets are at Juda on Thursday, Feb. 12. Monticello (0-18, 0-13) had a Six Rivers crossover game scheduled on Thursday, Feb. 12 at Belmont.

BARNEVELD — On Tuesday Feb. 10, the Comets lost to the Barneveld Eagles 70-38 in a Six Rivers East conference game.
The loss dropped Albany to 6-13 overall and 4-11 in the Six Rivers East.
Albany traveled to Juda to face the Panthers in a Six Rivers East Conference game scheduled on Thursday Feb. 12.
