Cheesemakers Place 2nd At RVC Meet
The Monroe Cheesemakers finished in second place at the Rock Valley Conference Golf Meet on May 1 at Willow Brook Golf Course at Whitewater. The Cheesemakers had 170 strokes which placed them behind East Troy who shot a 162. This puts the Cheesemakers down two points East Troy in the Rock Valley Conference standings with just the final conference match on May 21 remaining. The final conference match is worth double the points so the Cheesemakers are still in control of their own destiny. On the leaderboard, senior Brady Spotts tied for third place with a 40. Junior Brock Brandli and junior Brody Koehn each shot a 43 and tied for eighth place. Junior Hans Brandt finished ninth with a 44. Senior Aaron Benzshawel fired a 48 and was 18th in the field of 25 golfers.
Argyle-Pecatonica Places 6th at House on the Rock
The Argyle-Pecatonica Golf Team shot a score of 361 to take sixth place at the River Valley Invitational held May 3 at House On The Rock Resort in Spring Green. Reedsburg won the event with a score of 336. Argyle-Pec senior Alex Ruetten shot a 75 to take medalist honors for the event. Sophomore Avari Steiner shot an 84. Cole Phillips shot a 102, Caleb McKenna a 100, and Max Robertson a 106. “Alex really played well,” said Argyle-Pec coach Chuck Chandler. “He’s dialed in. We’re coming into the stretch run here in our season so it’s time to step up. Alex and Avari (Steiner) have done that for us.” The WIAA Division 3 Regional will be at the House on the Rock Resort May 27 and May 28. “I’m not sure a score of 361 gets us on to sectionals,” said Chandler.
