Tennis

MONROE — The Monroe Cheesemakers got a big conference win over Big Foot, 6-1 in Rock Valley Conference girls tennis on Tuesday, Sept. 9.

At No. 1 singles, Monroe’s Adeline Eckerman had to face Annabelle Parker of Big Foot, regarded as one of the top tennis players in the state. Eckerman lost 6-0, 6-0.

“Annabelle had a huge serve and had answers to all the adjustments we tried making for Addy in her match,” Monroe coach Matt Bordner said.

The rest of Monroe’s singles lineup picked up wins with Ryann Dahlman getting a big win over Easton Gregory at No. 2 singles.

“It was a great battle between two experienced players. Ryann started attacking the backhand more down the stretch and hit some fantastic drop shots to win a really competitive 2-hour singles match,” said Bordner.
