MONROE — The Cheesemakers struggled at home Tuesday in a 9-0 loss to Badger South leader Oregon.

The Panthers (5-2, 2-0), ranked No. 8 in Division 2 in the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association state poll, scored four goals in the first half and then peppered on five more in the second half at Honey Creek Park.

Daniel Lapp had Monroe’s only shot on goal in the game and goalkeeper Devan Schulte finished the night with 24 saves.

The Cheesemakers (1-4, 0-1) were scheduled to play at Cambridge-Deerfield (3-2-2) in a nonconference game Thursday and play Madison Edgewood (1-3-1, 0-2) in Verona Tuesday.

Sugar River 3, Lake Mills 1

LAKE MILLS — The Raiders, ranked sixth in Division 3, scored three unanswered goals to pick up a big nonconference win on the road.

Trailing 1-0 in the first half, Jack Gentilli scored in the 39th minute off of a free kick from 18 yards out to even the score. Gentilli gave Sugar River the lead in the 58th minute off of a corner kick from Logan Winklepleck. In the 82nd minute, Jaden Kreklow found Milo Hoesly who put the ball in the net on one touch to seal the game.

Sugar River outshot the L-Cats (4-1-1, 2-1 Capitol) 13-5, which had given the Raiders (6-0, 3-0) their first deficit of the season. Gentilli and Lake Mills’ Noah Mock each received yellow cards. Raiders goalkeeper Julian Lutz had five saves.

“Tough capital conference game,” Sugar River coach Kyle Webber said. “Both teams had many great opportunities to score. Sugar River did a great job containing Lake Mills’ offensive threat.”

The Raiders host Wisconsin Dells (1-3-1) in New Glarus Tuesday.
