EAST TROY — The Monroe Cheesemakers fell to East Troy in girls tennis, 4-3 on Thursday, Sept. 4. Cheesemakers coach Matt Bordner called it a very competitive loss.
“We picked up two big super tiebreaker wins from No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, and then Ryann Dahlman came up with a huge win in our singles lineup at No. 2 singles,” he said.
Cheesemakers Go 3-0 at Delavan-Darien Quad
DELAVAN — The Monroe Cheesemakers won all three matches at the Delavan Quad on Friday, Sept. 5. Their first match of the quad was against Shoreland Lutheran High School. The Cheesemakers dominated with a 7-0 win.
“We played a great round with straight set wins across the board,” said Cheesemakers coach Matt Bordner.
Monroe’s second round matchup was against the host school, Delavan-Darien, who the Cheesemakers beat 4-3 a few weeks ago. This time, the Cheese turned back the Comets 5-2.
Bordner felt the Cheesemakers are continuing to gain confidence.
“Ryann Dahlman was able to beat an opponent she lost to earlier in the season, and Mads was also able to pick up a win this time around. Layla and Rylee continued to play extremely well, moving their record to 9-2 on the season,” said Bordner.
The Cheesemakers’ last round was against a short-handed Catholic Central team, which is the reason for several forfeits in Monroe’s 7-0 win.
“We were able to get Mara, Teresa, and Sophia in on the action which was great and finished the day winning the quad with a 3-0 result,” said Bordner.
The Cheesemakers are now 7-2 overall and have two big conference duals coming up this week with Big Foot/Williams Bay on Sept. 9 and at Whitewater on Thursday, Sept. 11.
