Cheesemakers find their legs at indoor meet

The Monroe Cheesemakers girls track team participated in the University of Dubuque Indoor Classic on Friday March 21. In the 400 meter dash, junior Mya Wild earned 15th place in 1:07.08. Senior Gianna Green was 33rd in 1:23.02. Leading the Cheesemakers in the 800 meter run was junior Aniyah Jackson-Bey, who was 12th with a time of 2:40.11. Sophomore Lyla Ritschard finished 15th in 2:44.73. Green also came in 33rd place in the 800 meter run with a time of 3:33.62. Freshman Vickie Wolf took ninth pace in the 1500 meter run in 5:21.23. Freshman Alivia Mosher was 15th with a run of 5:39.37.

In the 3000 meter run, freshman Kaylen Cassidy of the Cheesemakers took seventh place, completing the course in 12:42.34. For Monroe, the girls 4x200 meter relay saw senior Ella Kranig, junior Sophia Wu, freshman Eden Greely, and freshman Brianna Ziolkowski take 19th place in 2:07.49. The Cheesemakers competed well in the 4x400 meter relay as junior Aniyah Jackson-Bey, sophomore Maryella Green, sophomore Lyla Ritschard, and junior Mya Wild earned eighth place in 4:33.18. The 4x800 meter relay team of freshman Vickie Wolf, freshman Kaylen Cassidy, sophomore Maryella Green, and freshman Alivia Mosher ran the course in 10:39.34, good for seventh place. Monroe junior Ella Kranig, sophomore Maryella Green, junior Aniyah Jackson-Bey, and junior Mya Wild took 11th place in the 1600 sprint medley in 4:48.42.

In the girls high jump, Monroe’s Mya Wild tied for seventh place with a jump of four feet, six inches. Also for Monroe, Aniyah Jackson-Bey got 14th place with a jump of 14 feet, 9.25 inches. Freshman Brianna Ziolkowski starred for Monroe in the triple jump, finishing in fourth place with a jump of 28 feet, 9.50 inches. The highest finisher for Monroe in the shot put was junior Kira Schmidt who placed 30th with a toss of 25 feet, .75 inches.
