The Monroe Cheesemakers followed the same script they had in their win over Brodhead on Jan. 24; hot shooting and relentless defense to demolish the New Glarus Glarner Knights 88-45 on Monday, Jan. 26 in nonconference boys basketball. Senior Logan Taylor connected on four three-pointers in the first half and scored 26 points to lead four players in double figures in the Cheesemakers win. Senior

Mekhi Brown racked up 18 points, senior Miles Versnik dropped in 12 points, and junior Kam Gerber-Reamer got in on the scoring with 10 points for Monroe. Taylor scored seven straight points midway in the first half to bump a Monroe lead of 22-11 to 29-11 with 9:01 left in the first half. Taylor hit back-to-back 3’s to lift Monroe to a 49-16 lead with 2:39 remaining in the half. Monroe led 55-21 at halftime.

In the second half, Brown made a basket and Taylor followed with a three-point play to put Monroe in control at 60-25 with 14:16 left in the game. Senior Marcus Ott buried a three and followed with a layup to give the Cheese a 76-32 lead with nine minutes left in the game to begin a running clock. Senior Tatem Stampfli was the leading scorer for theGlarner Knights with 14 points. BRODHEAD — The Brodhead Cardinals got into the win column for the first time this season on Monday, Jan. 26 with a 76-59 victory over the Wisconsin Heights Vanguards in nonconference boys basketball. Senior Sam Searls scored a career-high 34 points and senior Nolan Bump tacked on 18 points to help the Cardinals enjoy their first win since an 86-63 win over Viroqua on March 4, 2025 in

a regional quarterfinal. The win snapped a 14-game losing streak for the Cardinals. Junior Braylon Strehlow also scored in double figures with 12 points as Brodhead shot 42.6% and made eight

three-pointers. Brodhead (1-13, 0-8) had a Rock Valley Conference crossover game scheduled at Whitewater on Thursday,

Jan. 29.

DARLINGTON — Senior Broker Buschor scored 18 points and sophomore Ryder Fitzsimons followed up with 11 points to pave the way for the Darlington Redbirds to get a 50-36 win over the Fennimore Golden Eagles in SWAL boys basketball on Monday, Jan. 26. Buschor also had 11 rebounds and junior Zeke Zuberbuhler had seven assists as the Redbirds won their 8th straight game. Darlington (11-2, 6-0) was scheduled to meet Cuba City in SWAL action on Thursday, Jan. 29.

BLANCHARDVILLE — Junior Griffin Noll pumped in 27 points to lead all scorers as the Pecatonica Vikings won their fourth straight game, 70-40 over the Albany Comets in Six Rivers East

Conference action on Monday, Jan. 26. The Vikings also got 16 points from junior Martin Anderson and 10 points from senior Cohlman Schlimgen. Junior Ty Durtschi led the Comets with 25 points.

Noll is now 18 points away from scoring 1,000 points for his career. Pecatonica (11-4, 7-3) was scheduled to meet Juda in a Six Rivers East Conference game on Thursday, Jan. 29. Albany (5-7, 3-7) was also scheduled to host front-running Barneveld on Thursday, Jan. 29 in a Six Rivers East Conference game.

ARGYLE — Sophomore Joe Soper scored 21 points and senior Deacon Kuebli dropped in 15 of his 17 points in the second half to help the Argyle Orioles turn back the Black Hawk Warriors 57-38 in Six Rivers East Conference action on Monday, Jan. 26. The Orioles held a 25-21 lead at halftime, but turned up the defense in the second half, allowing the Warriors to score just 17 points.

Senior Jacob Woodruff was the high scorer for Black Hawk with 11 points. Argyle (7-7, 5-4) had a Six Rivers Conference crossover game scheduled at Potosi-Cassville while Black Hawk (3-11, 2-7) had a Six Rivers East Conference game scheduled at home against Monticello on Thursday, Jan. 29.
