MADISON — The Monroe Cheesemakers ended their regular season in girls tennis with a match against the No. 1 ranked team in Division 2 in the state in the Edgewood Crusaders. Edgewood shut down the Cheesemakers 7-0.

Monroe coach Matt Bordner said it was tough for the Cheesemakers from the get-go.

“We didn’t gain much traction in matches tonight aside from No. 2 doubles. Alexis (Gertsch) and Kaya (Holverson) had a 4-1 lead in their second set, but Edgewood tightened down and rattled off five straight games to close it out,” said Bordner.

Monroe closed the season regular season 13-4 overall and competed in the subsectionals on Monday, Oct. 6 in Lodi.
