MONROE — The Monroe—New Glarus girls’ swim team put forth a strong effort, but fell to McFarland 103-67 on Tuesday, Oct. 14 in Badger Conference swimming.
Highlights of the dual meet for the Cheese Knights were Amanda Geib recording two season-best times and Hadleigh Shunk getting two individual event wins.
Seven swimmers achieved season-best times in eight events; Piper Faber in the 100 fly, Hadleigh Shunk in the 100 backstroke, Amelia Geib in the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle, Kennedy Sysko in the 100 breaststroke, Lauren Zentner in the 50 freestyle, Lexie Elgin in the 50 freestyle, and Anna Zentner is the 200 IM.
Monroe-New Glarus coach Rachel Root said the Cheese Knights did quite well considering it is late in the season.
“This stretch of the season is always challenging as fatigue sets in, but the girls showed determination and grit throughout the meet. We’re looking forward to a well-earned rest in the coming weeks and are excited to see how the team performs at the end of the season,” Root said.
Monroe-New Glarus will have a home dual meet on Monday, Oct. 20 against Sauk Prairie at the Green County Family YMCA.
