Cheese fall to DD; AP, Belleville add wins

MONROE — The Monroe Cheesemakers found themselves down 38-19 at halftime as the Delavan-Darien Comets connected on six three-pointers and defeated the Cheesemakers 61-39 in Rock Valley Conference, Valley Division action on Thursday, Feb. 5.

The Cheesemakers lost an earlier meeting with the Comets on Nov. 25, 66-33. 

Junior Braylee Friedrich had the Cheesemakers with 16 points. Sophomore Analise Newcomer chipped in with eight points and freshman Ella Mortimer recorded six points for the Cheesemakers.

Monroe (7-14, 1-10 RVC-Valley) had an RVC road game at East Troy scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 10.


Belleville 73, Wis. Heights 26

BELLEVILLE — Senior Toria Devoe led all scorers with 20 points including five three-pointers as the Belleville Wildcats demolished the Wisconsin Heights Vanguards 73-26 in Capitol South girls basketball on Thursday, Feb. 5.

Junior Brynn Prochaska contributed 13 points and junior Ava Shrader had 11 points as the Wildcats stayed unbeaten in the Capitol South at 6-0. The 26 points allowed by Belleville is the second-lowest point total this season. The Wildcats allowed Wisconsin Heights just eight points in a 54-8 rout of the Vanguards on Jan. 13. The Wildcats have now won eight straight games.

Belleville (13-6, 6-0) met second-place New Glarus in a Capitol South matchup on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at New Glarus.


Argyle-Pecatonica 69, Juda 23

BLANCHARDVILLE — Argyle-Pecatonica dominated from start to finish in a 69-23 win over the Juda Panthers in Six Rivers East conference girls basketball on Thursday, Feb. 5.

AP took a 42-11 lead at halftime and rolled to their third straight win. The 78ers got 31 points from senior Kylie Butler, 12 points from senior Loretta Tisch, and 11 points from junior Brooke Wellnitz. 

Juda was led by senior Rianna Sullivan, who scored eight points.

Argyle-Pecatonica (17-2, 11-1) faced Deerfield (20-1) in a nonconference game scheduled on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at Argyle. Juda (4-16, 0-11) had the Black Hawk Warriors on their schedule in a Six Rivers East game on Tuesday, Feb. 10.


Albany-Monticello 58, Black Hawk 32

ALBANY — Freshman Annie Olson and sophomore Heidi Olson each scored 16 points and freshman Emersen Butts tacked on 11 points to give the Albany-Monticello Space Stallions a 58-32 win over the Black Hawk Warriors in Six Rivers East action on Thursday, Feb. 5.

It was the 17th straight win this season for AM, who are ranked fifth in Division 4 in the Bound Wisconsin/Zaleski Sports Girls Basketball Media Poll. 

Junior Jaci Kammes and senior Emily Figi each had 12 points to lead Black Hawk. 

Albany-Monticello (20-1, 10-1) was set to travel to Barneveld for a Six Rivers East game while Black Hawk (4-15, 1-11) was to play at home against Juda on Tuesday, Feb. 10.
