Cards can’t overcome High Tide
Brodhead’s Allie Dahl (5) attracts a crowd from Edgerton defending her during their game February 5. Seveth-ranked Edgerton won handily, 63-31
Cards can’t overcome High Tide

BRODHEAD — The Brodhead Cardinals were hoping to avenge a loss to the Edgerton Crimson Tide on November 25 and tighten the race for the Rock Valley Conference, Rock Division title on Thursday, Feb. 5. With a win, Brodhead would be just a half-game back of the Crimson Tide with four conference games to play

So much for that idea.

The Crimson Tide scorched the nets with 11 three-pointers and took a 26 point halftime lead on their way to a 63-31 thrashing of the Brodhead Cardinals in a pivotal RVC-Rock Conference game. The Crimson Tide held the Cardinals to a season-low 31 points and opened up a 2.5 game lead over Brodhead in the RVC-Rock. It also dropped the Cardinals to third place behind Evansville in the RVC-Rock standings. Edgerton is now 10-0 while Evansville is 8-2 and Brodhead is 8-3.

Senior Gracee Langer led Edgerton with 17 points, but it was the Crimson Tide defense that led the way. Freshman Ella Olson led Brodhead with nine points, but was fronted and was double and triple teamed most of the night. Senior Allie Dahl, who normally averages 22 points per game was held to four points.

Brodhead (15-5, 8-3) will travel to Big Foot to take on the Chiefs in a Rock Valley Conference, Rock Division game on Thursday, Feb. 10.
