BRODHEAD — The Cardinals are down three sharpshooters in their normal lineup, but that didn’t stop them from pouring in 13 3-pointers in an 84-42 romp of Clinton Feb. 4.

Cade Walker hit five 3s, while Connor Green and Owen Leifker each hit three for Brodhead, which led 49-24 at halftime. Walker finished with 21 points, Leifker had 19, Green 11 and Cody Malcook added 14. Brodhead was also 19 of 27 as a team from the free throw line.

Clinton, meanwhile, was just 2 of 5 from the charity stripe and connected on only four 3s — a difference of 30 points between the two teams from distance.


New Glarus 68, Cambridge 48

NEW GLARUS — The Glarner Knights were methodical in a Capitol South Conference win Feb. 4.

The home team outscored the Bluejays 35-23 in the first half, and then 33-25 in the second. Fouls were also a non-factor in the game, with New Glarus being whistled just four times to Cambridge’s 10. Just nine free throws were shot in the contest.

Mason Martinson led New Glarus with 18 points, 15 of which came in the first half. Nathan Streiff added 14 points for the Knights, with 10 coming over the course of the final 18 minutes. Connor Siegenthaler added right points and Garrett James had seven for New Glarus, which was able to play all 15 players on its bench.


Black Hawk 55, Juda 47

JUDA — The host Panthers trailed by just two points at halftime, but the Warriors pulled away in the second half.

Trent Anderson led Juda with 15 points, including a perfect 7 for 7 effort from the free throw line. Payton Johnson scored 14 points and Gavin Kammerer had eight for the Panthers.


Darlington 67, Boscobel 22

DARLINGTON — The fourth-ranked Redbirds laid waste to the Bulldogs in a SWAL matchup Feb. 4.

Carter Lancaster scored 18 points to lead the way, while Cayden Rankin and Curtis Stone each added 16 for Darlington. The trio finished the night 18 for 29 (62%) from the field, and 7 for 10 from beyond the arc.

The Redbirds shot 50% from the field in the game as a collective unit, including a 9 of 14 mark (64.2%) from beyond the arc and 10 of 16 (62.5%) from the free throw line.

In other area scores, Argyle edged Belmont in a Feb. 4 nonconference game 38-37, while Monticello, ranked fourth in the coaches poll, battled injuries and foul trouble to multiple starters but suffered its first loss of the season Feb. 3 to Benton, 73-64.
