Brodhead 3, Turner 2
BRODHEAD — The Brodhead Cardinals prevailed over the Turner Trojans in five sets 25-22, 21-25, 23-25, 25-10, 15-5 in Rock Valley Conference, Rock Division volleyball on Thursday, Oct. 9.
The Cardinals, who received Honorable Mention in the latest Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association Division 3 poll, got eight kills by Brynn Riesterer, 41 assists by Gretchen Kammerer, and six aces by Addie Leifker. Leah Rear had 20 digs and Allie Dahl had 19 digs for the Cardinals.
Brodhead (22-8, 7-2) will play at Evansville in a RVC-Rock match on Tuesday, Oct. 14.
Argyle 3, Albany 0
ALBANY — The Argyle Orioles handled the Albany Comets in three sets, 25-9, 25-14, 25-13 on Thursday Oct. 9 in Six Rivers Conference volleyball.
Kylie Butler came up with 18 kills, 13 digs, one block, and one ace to lead the Orioles. Brooke Wellnitz also produced an impressive line: 13 kills, 16 digs, three aces, and one block. Avari Steiner was another stats leader for the Orioles with 34 assists, four kills, and nine digs. Also contributing for Argyle were Claire Holmes with seven kills, three aces, and four digs. Brynn Harris led Argyle in digs with 23.
Argyle (22-1, 11-0) ranked No. 1 in the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association Division 5 poll, will play their final match of the regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at home against Pecatonica. The WIAA volleyball regionals begin Tuesday, Oct. 21.
Darlington 3, Boscobel 0
DARLINGTON — The Darlington Redbirds took down the Boscobel Bulldogs in three sets on Thursday, Oct. 9 in SWAL play, 25-12, 25-10, 25-20.
The Redbirds got nine kills from Maddie Gratz, 19 assists from Lilly Ritchie, and 12 digs by Olivea Winslow. Ritchie, Gratz, and Raynie Norgard each had two blocks. Winslow also had four aces.
Darlington (10-12, 3-4) will go on the road to face Iowa-Grant in SWAL volleyball on Thursday, Oct. 16.
