Cardinals narrowly defeat Clinton 2-1

BRODHEAD — The Brodhead Cardinals pushed across a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to walk off the Clinton Cougars 2-1 in Rock Valley-Rock Conference softball on Tuesday, March 31.

Sophomore Mady Henning pitched all eight innings for Brodhead and gave up a run on two hits. Henning whiffed 11 batters and walked five. Freshman shortstop Elise Rear was 2x4 with a double and two runs scored. Junior catcher Leah Rear was 2x3 with a double and an RBI. Henning also drove in a run for the Cardinals.

Argyle-Black Hawk 15, Parkview 1

ARGYLE — Senior Kylie Butler drove in six runs on three hits to lead the Argyle-Black Hawk Orioles over the Parkview Vikings 15-1 in nonconference softball on Tuesday, March 31.

Butler drove in three runs on a bases-loaded double in the third inning when the Orioles scored eight runs. Butler also drove in a run with a base hit in the first inning and got two RBIs with a base hit in the second inning.

Brynn Harris started and earned the win for the Orioles as she allowed one hit and one run (zero earned) over four innings, striking out six and walking one. The Orioles got 10 hits in the game with Brinley Meinert going 2x3 with a triple and a run scored.

Argyle-Black Hawk (1-1) was scheduled to host Darlington in nonconference action on Tuesday, April 7.
