Seagreaves, Jacobson lone First-Team All-Conference selections

Isaac Bunker was named Wrestler of the Year in the Badger West. This makes his second Player of the Year award in his senior season, as he earned Lineman and Offensive Player of the Year in football.

MONROE — The Badger Conference released its All-Conference lists on Saturday, March 11 with a slew of Cheesemakers earning honors.

Isaac Bunker led all Monroe athletes as a First-Team All-Conference wrestler at 285 pounds. With a 46-5 overall record, he was named the Wrestler of the Year in the west. Of his 46 wins, 37 of them were by pin. All of those pins occurred in the first period, setting Monroe’s single-season pin record. Bunker ended his wrestling career third place on the podium at the Kohl Center. He wrestled in a three-period match just once in his career. 

Carson Menehan (132) also made First-Team All-Conference, while Jack Dubach (145) garnered Second-Team All-Conference honors. These results were decided at the Badger Conference tournament on Saturday, February 4 at Milton.

Taylor Jacobson
Taylor Jacobson was the long First-Team All-Conference selection for the girls basketball team, averaging 13.7 pgg. That stat put her fourth in the Badger West for scoring.

Taylor Jacobson represented the girls basketball team as the only conference selection. The senior, a Texas A&M International commit, made First-Team after receiving Honorable Mention a year ago. She averaged 13.7 ppg, which put her fourth in the conference for scoring. Twice this year, Jacobson scored a career-high 27 points — in Monroe’s third game of the year against Delevan-Darien and in the Cheesemaker’s 56-49 loss to Evansville. She also led the team with 5.4 rpg.

James Seagreaves
James Seagreaves was the lone First-Team All-Conference selection for the boys basketball team, leading the Badger West with 10.3 rpg.

Junior James Seagreaves averaged a double-double this season, which put him first in the conference for rebounding (10.3 rpg). In total, he grabbed 250 rebounds, which makes him third-all time for single season rebounds in Monroe’s program behind Brad Stiner (1970-71) with 312 rebounds and Dave Holling (1966-67) with 255 rebounds. He surpasses his brother JT Seagreaves (2021-22) and Brad Stiner (1969-70) 242-rebound seasons. With 16.2 ppg, James Seagreaves finished third in the conference for points. He scored a career-high 26 points in Monroe’s 69-62 overtime loss to conference champion Edgewood.

Tucker Markham and George Brukwicki earned Honorable Mention accolades, also averaging double figures with 14.3 and 11.1 ppg, respectively. Markham had the second-best free-throw percentage on the team, making 91 of his 122 attempts for 75%. Meanwhile, Brukwicki made 48 of his 119 attempts from the beyond the arc for 40%. He attempted 33 more 3-pointers than the next person the team — Markham. 

In Badger Conference hockey, forward Seth Brandt paced the Monroe co-op with his Second-Team All-Conference selection. The senior scored 12 goals with 11 assists for 23 points, which were all second-best for the Cheesemakers.

Forward Wyatt Janecke, who received Honorable Mention accolades, led the team in all categories: goals (17), assists (12) and points (29). Nathan Ratke also made the Honorable Mention list, scoring three goals with five assists for eight points as a defenseman. 

On the girls side, Emma Kligora was a Second-Team All-Conference selection. She led the team in goals (17), assists (16) and points (33). The next highest point-leader was Ava Kligora and Claudia Boehlke with 16 points. In net, Jillian Traver received Honorable Mention recognition. As the team’s only goalie, she saved 869 of the 949 shots on goal for a .916 save percentage. Traver recorded two shutouts — one each against the Stoughton Icebergs 3-0 and Beaver Dam 7-0.
