BRODHEAD — The Brodhead Cardinals won its annual tournament on Sept. 10, dominating New Glarus in the championship 25-7, 25-4.
In the semifinals, Brodhead beat Evansville 25-16, 25-20, while New Glarus edged Mineral Point in three sets, 25-20, 23-25, 15-7.
In pool play, Brodhead went unbeaten in Pool A at 4-0, with Mineral Point going 3-1, Albany 2-2, Monroe 1-3 and Juda 0-4.
In Pool B, New Glarus, Monticello and Evansville each went 3-1. The tiebreaker was based on points allowed, with New Glarus (106) and Evansville (112) finishing ahead of Monticello (114), which went into the Silver Bracket. Monticello swept Turner 25-17, 25-17; lost to Evansville in three sets 20-25, 25-18, 8-15, and beat New Glarus 16-25, 25-21, 15-10. The Ponies also swept the Brodhead JV squad 25-9, 25-7.
In the Silver Bracket, Monticello cruised past Monroe 25-6, 25-12, and then beat Turner 25-17, 25-15 in the fifth-place match.
Monroe defeated Albany 26-24, 25-10 in the seventh-place match.
The Monticello Ponies swept Argyle in a Six Rivers East matchup Sept. 8, 25-11, 25-13, 25-20.
Also on Sept. 8, Brodhead swept Turner 25-11, 25-16, 25-11. Abbie Dix had 12 kills, four blocks and two aces. Addison Yates had three aces. Alexis Kammerer tallied 28 assists and two assists. Kaidynce Bevars had three aces.
Baraboo 3, Monroe 0
MONROE — The Cheesemakers lost in straight sets to the Thunderbirds Sept. 8, 25-15, 25-16, 25-10.
Baraboo had 14 aces to Monroe’s six, and committed half as many errors (28 to 56).
Corrina Snider and Addison Bartholf each had 12 digs for the Cheesemakers, while Sophie Golembiewski, Maggie Hawkinson and Brenna Aebly each had three aces. Bartholf dished out 11 assists, while Snider had three aces.
Wis. Heights 3, Belleville 2
BELLEVILLE — The Wildcats fell in a tight tiebreaker on Sept. 8, 23-25, 25-22, 25-20, 21-25, 17-15.
Kailey Procheska had 12 kills, four aces and two blocks. Kylie Humke also had four aces, while Addy Edge dished out 36 assists and Mikayla Caskey tallied 16 digs.
Pecatonica 3, Albany 1
ALBANY — The Vikings won a conference match Sept. 8, 22-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-19.
Alana Durtschi had 11 kills for Albany, while Anna Ellingson had four blocks and two aces. Myah Johnson finished with nine assists and 29 digs. Ellie Modaff chipped in with nine assists.
