NEW GLARUS — Brodhead advanced to the sectional as a team after finishing fourth at the WIAA Division 2 New Glarus Regional at Edelweiss Chalet Country Club May 24. Edgewood won the team title with a 318, followed by Lodi (324), Edgerton (332) and Brodhead (344). New Glarus finished a stroke off the pace (345), with Evansville (349), Monticello-Belleville (354) and Monroe (360) all staying competitive.
Edgerton freshman Caleb Kern was the medalist with a 5-over-par 77. Monticello-Belleville’s Josh Potter was tied for second with a 78.
Also advancing to sectionals as individuals were Monroe junior Bert Leach (82) and New Glarus junior Nolan Bodenstein (84).
Seth Brandt had a 92 for Monroe, with Aaron Benzschawel and Carson Leuzinger each carding a 93 and Brady Spotts finishing with a 94.
Grant Grossen had a 90 for Monticello-Belleville, with Peyton Smith adding a 91, Casey Hagen a 95 and; Reid Nolden a 98.
For New Glarus, Zak Arnett finished with an 86, a stroke behind joining the playoff for the final individual spot in the playoffs. Ben Lukzsys had an 87, with Jack Douma carding an 88 and Carter Siegenthaler a 95.
Brodhead was led by Nolan and Onni Oliver, who each finished with an 85. Grant Purdue and Austin Moe added 87s, and Jacob Moyer shot a 106.
Argyle-Pecatonica advances in D3
MINERAL POINT — Argyle-Pecatonica advanced to the sectional with a fourth place finish at the WIAA Division 3 Regional at Dodge-Point. Mineral Point was the team champion, with Lancaster and Barneveld also moving on. Fennimore finished a stroke behind Argyle-Pecatonica. Darlington was ninth.
Oscar Thuli, a Darlington junior, advanced to sectionals as an individual with an 83, which was fifth overall. Olin Johnson finished with a 97 for the Redbirds, with Eli Aird, Phillip McGowan and Austin Ford all scoring in triple digits.
Alex Ruetten led Argyle-Pecatonica with a 90. Thomas Nelson finished with a 98, Evan Dochnahl a 99, Hunter Lelle a 103 and Kyle Theorin a 113.
