JANESVILLE — The Brodhead-Juda girls cross country team just barely missed out on taking first place at the Jefferson Invitational Cross Country tournament on Tuesday Sept. 30.
Evansville won the meet with 52 points and Brodhead-Juda was second with 53. In the boys race, the Cardinals finished in seventh pace with 159 points.
The Lady Cardinals placed five runners in the top 25 with sophomore Olivia Brooks placing second in 21:10.30. Sophomore Ryleigh Brown was seventh with a time of 22:22.50. Sophomore Rachel Hatter was 11th and ran the course in 22:59.10. Freshman Josie Hatter had a time of 24:20.40 and placed 22nd while sophomore Isabelle Yoshida took 24th place with a time of 24:26.00.
In the boys race, senior Mavrik Plummer ran another outstanding race with a second place finish in 18:12.60. Other top runners for Brodhead-Juda were senior Jorge Villalva (29th, 19:43.10), Gauge Smith (30th, 19:44.60), and freshman Ashton Henze (43rd, 20:17.80).
The Cardinals will be one of several area teams competing in the Platteville Invitational on Oct. 4.
