Brodhead-Juda exits early

BRODHEAD — Six days didn’t make much of difference, as Edgerton defeated Brodhead-Juda 8-2 in the WIAA Regional Quarterfinal on Thursday, May 25. The two teams faced each other on Friday, May 19, where the Crimson Tide won by a 12-1 margin.

The Cardinals, who hosted as the No. 8-seed, scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it a 3-2 game. Aidyn Vondra, Trent Neeley and Gabe Bockhop tallied three straight singles for one run. David Masloske then lined a two-out RBI single to right. Edgerton pitcher Carson Dupuis stranded the tying run on third by striking out Clayton Elliott. 

The Crimson Tide pulled away with five runs in the top of the seventh and the Cardinals down in the bottom half of the frame for the win.

The top five in Brodhead-Juda accounted for all five hits: Vondra, Neeley, Bockhop, Masloske and Ryan Searls. Starting pitcher Evan Senobe suffered the loss, giving up one earned run on six hits. He struck out nine and walked two. Brody Riese pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief.
