Brodhead falls, NG, Monticello, BH net wins

BRODHEAD — McFarland jumped out to a 44-25 halftime lead en route to a solid 83-58 win over Brodhead in a Rock Valley Conference game Jan. 16.

Blake Kes scored 23 points to lead McFarland (7-3, 5-2), which had three other players in double figures: Jackson Werwinski (16), Pete Pavelec (14) and Max Hanson (12).

Brodhead (4-6, 2-5) had three players in double figures: Owen Leifker (12), Connor Green (11) and Brady Malkow (10). 


New Glarus 64, Wisconsin Heights 55

MAZONANIE — Nathan Streiff scored 23 points and Mason Martinson added 20 as the Glarner Knights picked up a strong win in the first Capitol South Conference game of the season.

New Glarus (4-5, 1-0) jumped out to a 36-29 lead at halftime and held the Vanguards (5-5, 0-1) at bay in the second half. 

Garrett James added seven points for the Knights, while teammate Connor Siegenthaler finished with six. Lathan Parman led Wisconsin Heights with 12 points.


Monticello 63, Pecatonica 36

MONTICELLO — The Ponies had four players in double figures in a Jan. 17 win over the Vikings.

Reece Rufer led the way with 17 for Monticello, while Pete Gustafson had 14, Simon Blohowiak 12 and Owen ace 10. Devin Holtz added eight points for the Ponies, which led just 25-18 at the half before outscoring Pecatonica by 20 in the second half.

In other area nonconference scores, on Jan. 18 Juda lost to Williams Bay 74-39, while Black Hawk knocked off Belmont 52-43 at JustAGame Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells.
