Evansville bests Belleville in slobber knocker

JANESVILLE — Brodhead was swept by Division 1 Janesville Craig April 1, 25-15, 26-24, 25-20.

The Cardinals collected five aces, but missed 12 more serves, finishing at an 80.3 success rate. Madisyn Kail had 3 aces, and McKenna Young had the other two for Brodhead.

Abbie Dix led the team with 15 kills, 11 digs and 5 blocks, and Alexis Kammerer had 26 assists and 7 digs. 


Evansville 3, Belleville 2

BELLEVILLE — The Wildcats and Blue Devils pushed each other to the brink April 1.

Evansville won the first set in bonus play 26-24, but Belleville took the second game 28-26. Evansville countered with a 25-20 win in the third set, but Belleville forced a fifth set with a 25-18 win in the fourth frame. In the tie-breaking period, Evansville walked away victorious, 15-13.

Callie Smith and Ava Foley each had 15 kills for Belleville. Foley added 6 aces and 18 digs. Katie Bowers finished with 12 blocks and Brooke Everson had 10 for the Wildcats. Shylah Lietz finished with 5 aces, Melanie Humke had 12 digs, Josey Latorre dished out 16 assists and Kenna Edge tallied 15 digs.

Skye McDermott had 12 kills and 19 assists for Evansville. Josey Rhinehart had 10 blocks, while CC Muench added 9 blocks, and Adison Etringer notched 16 assists. Taija Louis and Maria Messling each finished with 3 aces for the Devils, with Louis adding 25 digs.
