Brenkman Leads Sugar River To 4-1 Win Over Lodi

LODI — Senior Anya Brenkman scored three goals and assisted on another as the Sugar River Raiders beat the Lodi Blue Devils 4-1 in Capitol Conference soccer on Thursday, May 29. Brenkman got her first goal at 2:59 on an assist by sophomore Holly Maynard. 

Brenkman assisted on the Raiders next goal as sophomore Nikole Schultz scored at 25:45 to put Sugar River out in front 2-0. Brenkman opened the second-half scoring with a goal at 42:48 with an assist from senior Audry Brueggemann, giving Sugar River a 3-0 lead. Brenkman scored again, this time on an assist from senior Kylie Humke at 55:57 to give Sugar River a 4-0 advantage. The Blue Devils got on the board with a goal at 75:48.

Goalkeeper Mackenzie Ohms had five saves and goalkeeper Savannah Minter had one save for the Raiders (17-2-1, 6-0 Capitol Conference).

Brenkman now has 148 goals and 53 assists in her career, good enough to rank in the top 10 All-Time according to Wisconsin Prep Stats for career goals and total points. This season, she has 42 goals and 18 assists, ranking her in the top five in the state for goals and points. 

Sugar River will host Jefferson on Thursday, June 5 at 7 p.m. in a WIAA Regional semifinal.
