After winning two games in a row, the Monroe Cheesemakers set their sights on facing Madison Edgewood on Tuesday, Jan. 27. The Crusaders came into the game undefeated in the Badger Conference at 9-0 and 16-1 overall. They were ranked No. 4 in the latest Wisconsin Prep Hockey poll of Division 1 teams. It didn’t go well for the Cheesemakers as the Crusaders pounded Monroe 10-0. After one period, the Cheesemakers were down only 1-0. But, the second period was especially unkind to the Cheesemakers as Edgewood scored seven goals, including three shorthanded goals and one powerplay
goal. The Crusaders did all the second period scoring over a span of eight minutes. Edgewood added another power-play goal in the third period. Senior goalie Brock Brandli played all 51 minutes in front of the net for the Cheesemakers, getting 37 saves. Monroe managed just four shots on goal. Monroe (6-12, 4-6) was scheduled to host Janesville on Thursday, Jan. 29 in a nonconference game.
