SUN PRAIRIE — The Janesville Bluebirds dropped their third straight game by one goal as they fell to the Cap City Cougars 3-2 in Badger Conference girls hockey at Sun Prairie on Monday, Dec. 8.
Freshmen Micki Andrews and Hailey Rasmussen of Monroe and Julianna Strommen of Brodhead all played but did not record a goal or an assist. Andrews received a two minute minor penalty for hooking in the third period. The game was tied at 2-2 in the third period when the Cougars got a power play goal with 56 seconds remaining in regulation to win. It was the Cougars first successful power play opportunity after going 0-2 earlier in the game. The Bluebirds went 0-3 on the power play.
Janesville (0-6) will face the USM Wildcats (University School-Milwaukee) on the road in nonconference girls hockey on Saturday, Dec. 13.
