ARGYLE — The Warriors took a two-game lead in the standings with a four-set victory over three-time defending champion Argyle Tuesday. Black Hawk won 25-17, 25-22, 18-25, 25-20.
Hannah Butler had 23 kills and a block and sister Bailey Butler had 16 kills to lead the Warriors. Savannah Burmeister finished with three aces and 23 assists for Black Hawk, while Mia Jackson had eight digs.
Jena Saalsaa led Argyle with 17 kills, 17 digs, two blocks and five aces. Maggie Godfrey had 12 kills for the Orioles, which also received 17 digs from Jadyn Saalsaa and 33 assists from Kirsten Ostby.
With the win, Black Hawk (10-0 Six Rivers East) has clinched at least a share of the conference title with two matches remaining: Oct. 4 vs. Pecatonica and Oct. 9 at Barneveld. One more win would clinch an outright title for the Warriors.
Argyle (8-2), currently second in the standings, is at Albany Tuesday and hosts Barneveld Thursday.
Monticello 3, Albany 0
ALBANY — The Ponies swept the Comets Tuesday night, 25-16, 25-14, 25-22.
Hannah Zanow had 12 kills for Monticello, which also received two blocks from Mackie Errthum and 24 assists, three aces and eight digs from Lindsey Pence.
Libby Beck had six kills, three aces and 10 digs for Albany. Payton Zurfluh dished out 11 assists for the Comets, which also got five aces from Mady Conway and three blocks from Brianna Dahl.
Pecatonica 3, Barneveld 2
BARNEVELD — Samantha Holmstrom had 14 kills, 18 digs and four aces to lead the Vikings to a 25-17, 15-25, 16-25, 25-19, 15-10 win over the Eagles Tuesday.
“Sam Holmstrom had a great game,” Pecatonica head coach Brad Tisch said. “She played well in all phases. She really hit the ball well.”
Sydney Eaton had 13 assists, a block and six aces. Tessa Green finished with 14 assists, Emily Zimmerman notched 22 digs and Lexi Peterson had seven kills and three blocks.
“Sydney Eaton fought through a cold, and played really tough both setting and serving. Lexi Peterson continues to get better as a freshman,” Tisch said. “Also, a special call out to our back row, Lilly Busser and Emily Zimmerman, they both played excellent defense and provided very accurate passes.”
Brodhead 3, Whitewater 2
WHITEWATER — The Cardinals came back from down two sets to one to knock off the Whippets 25-20, 16-25, 18-25, 25-13, 15-9.
Brodhead served 93.9 percent from the service line, which included 15 aces. Sabrina Siegel had seven aces for the Cardinals, with Abbey Johnson netting three and Alexis Oliver two.
Oliver finished with 14 kills and had a block, while Johnson had six kills, a block, 19 assists and 17 digs. Siegel added four kills, Katie Goecks had nine kills, two blocks and an ace and Madison Kail had an ace and 13 assists.
In other action, Darlington defeated Fennimore in four sets Tuesday while New Glarus was swept by Waterloo 25-11, 25-15, 25-8.
