PATCH GROVE — The Black Hawk-Warren Warriors had a tight battle against sixth-ranked River Ridge in Week 3, but came away with the 30-22 overtime win.
BHW led 8-0 after the first quarter and 16-14 at halftime. The Warriors (3-0)extended their lead to 22-14 through three quarters, but the Timberwolves (1-2) tied it before the final buzzer. The Warriors stepped up in overtime, scoring on offense, and connecting on the two-point conversion. Defensively, BHW kept River Ridge out of the end zone to close the game.
The Warriors nearly had three players with over 100 yards rushing. Jacob Woodruff had 127 yards, Beau Podnar went for 109, and Dax Paquin had 96 yards. Paquin added two scores, while Podnar and Woodruff each had one TD.
Up next for the Warriors is a Saturday, Sept. 13 game against Boscobel (0-3) in Warren.
River Valley 42, Brodhead-Juda 12
BRODHEAD — The Brodhead-Juda Cardinals (0-3) scored touchdowns in the first and fourth quarters, but in-between, the River Valley Blackhawks got two touchdowns passing from Lucas Klein and Ty Larsen scored three touchdowns on the ground to run past the Cardinals 42-12 in SWC football Sept. 5.
The Cardinals got on the board first on a one-yard Jayden Brown touchdown run. The try for two failed and the Cardinals led 6-0 with 7:52 left in the 1st quarter. From there, it was all River Valley as Klein ran 46 yards for a touchdown and threw a 22 yard touchdown pass to Jordan Gauger followed by a Larsen touchdown run of 15 yards in the first half to put the Blackhawks in front 21-6 at halftime. Larsen ran for two more touchdowns in the 2nd half and Klein connected with Ayden Hill on a 38 yard strike to give River Valley a 42-6 lead in the 4th quarter. Grayson Arn got the Cardinals’ 2nd touchdown on a six yard run with 4:49 remaining which made the final score River Valley 42, Brodhead-Juda 12.
Arn rushed for 92 yards on 19 carries and Brown had 46 yards rushing on 10 carries. Nolan Krupke was 12 of 16 passing for 67 yards. Nolan Bump had five receptions for 31 yards and Braylon Strehlow caught four passes for 43 yards.
Brodhead-Juda travels to Dodgeville (0-3) for an SWC game on Friday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m.
Pecatonica-Argyle 50, Boscobel 14
BOSCOBEL — Quarterback Martin Anderson passed for 218 yards and five touchdowns leading the Pecatonica-Argyle Vikings to a 50-28 win over the Boscobel Bulldogs (0-3) in Six Rivers Conference action on Sept. 5. The Vikings (1-2) will host Iowa-Grant (1-2) in a Six Rivers game on Friday, Sept. 12.
Belleville 26, Cuba City 10
CUBA CITY — Treyton Myers ran for 204 yards and three touchdowns to help the Belleville Wildcats (1-2) get their first win of the season, a 26-10 victory over the Cuba City Cubans (0-3) in the SWAL opener Sept. 5. The Wildcats host Lake Mills in a nonconference game on Friday, Sept. 12.
New Glarus 27, Dodgeville 6
NEW GLARUS — The Glarner Knights led Dodgeville 7-6 at halftime, then pulled away with 20 unanswered points in the second half to win over the Dodgers 27-6 in an SWC conference game on Sept. 5. Milo Johnson ran the ball 14 times for 154 yards and two touchdowns for the Knights. New Glarus (1-0, 3-0) will play at Richland Center in SWC action on Friday, Sept. 12.
Palmyra-Eagle 24, Parkview-Albany 20
PALMYRA — The Vikings (1-2) went into the fourth quarter holding a 20-18 lead on the Panthers (2-0), but a late score flipped the script with a late touchdown. Parkview-Albany’s Aiden Crane had 157 passing yards and 100 rushing yards with two touchdowns. Louis Nath had five catches for 103 yards. Elijah Gunn added an 80-yard kick return for a touchdown. Up next for the Vikings is a Week 4 game at Westfield (2-1)

Kickapoo-La Farge 56, Monticello 32
MONTICELLO — Junior Tanner Hilliard threw for a touchdown and senior Presley Ladwig ran for two scores, but Kickapoo-La Farge overpowered the Ponies 56-32 at Monticello on Thursday, Sept. 4. The Ponies fell to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the Ridge & Valley 8. Monticello will host Wonewoc-Weston on Friday, Sept. 12.
