ARGYLE — The Argyle Orioles continue to stand head and shoulders above the rest of the Six Rivers Conference in girls volleyball.
The Orioles, the No. 1 ranked team in Division 5 in the latest Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association poll, cruised over the Juda Panthers in three sets, 25-11, 25-9, 25-9 on Tuesday, Oct. 7 in Six Rivers East action.
Kylie Butler had 14 kills, four digs, two aces, and one block. Brooke Wellnitz delivered 11 kills, 10 digs, and three blocks. Avari Steiner had a productive night with 25 assists, two aces, and five digs, and one block, while Elise Kuebli notched six aces and nine digs.
Argyle (21-1, 10-0) played at Albany (2-11, 0-4) against the Comets on Thursday in another Six Rivers match.
Brodhead 3, Big Foot 0
BRODHEAD — The Brodhead Cardinals got another win in Rock Valley Conference, Rock Division volleyball on Tuesday, Oct. 7 by beating Big Foot in a three set sweep, 25-15, 25-28, 25-17.
Senior Brynn Riesterer hammered nine kills, senior Gretchen Kammerer had 22 assists, senior Addie Leifker scored six aces, and senior Allie Dahl came up with nine digs to lead the Cardinals.
Brodhead (21-8, 6-2) hosted Turner on Thursday, Oct. 9 before participating in the Clinton Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 11.
River Valley Triangular
SPRING GREEN — The Darlington Redbirds went 1-1 in the River Valley Triangular Volleyball Tournament Monday Oct. 6 at Spring Green. The Redbirds dropped the first match in three sets to Mauston, 25-18, 20-25, 11-15. Lilly Ritchie had seven kills and 10 assists. Catie Harwig came up with 11 digs and eight blocks.
In the second match, the Redbirds beat River Valley in three sets 25-20, 25-18, 16-14. Leading the Redbirds were Maicy Norgard with eight kills. Camryn Andrews had three aces. Maddie Gratz recorded 11 digs, Raynie Norgard had two blocks, and Lilly Ritchie dished out 10 assists.
The Redbirds (9-11, 2-4 SWAL) were back in SWAL conference action Thursday Oct. 9 at home against Boscobel.
