AP takes the crown at April Fools meet in South Wayne

Argyle-Pecatonica took first place in boys and girls track at the April Fools Track Meet Tuesday at South Wayne. Argyle-Pecatonica took first place in boys with 154 points. Darlington was second with 141 points. Albany was third with 80 points. Black Hawk came in fourth with 63 points. Belmont was fifth with 31 points and Monticello sixth with 22 points.

In boys, senior Caleb Smith of Albany took first place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.37 seconds. In the boys 200 meter dash, freshman Ayden Slater of Argyle-Pecatonica was the first place winner with a time of 25.41 seconds. The boys 400 meter dash featured Darlington senior Isaac Crist winning the race in 57.95 seconds. Darlington junior Brandon Reyes won the boys 800 meter run with a time of 2:21.58. In the boys 1600 meter run, senior Tucker Kettler of Belmont took first place in 5:22.36 while junior Grant Kuberski of Argyle-Pecatonica was 2nd in 5:27.85. Kettler also won the 1600 meter run in 13:15.19 with freshman Braelyn Meinert of Argyle-Pecatonica taking 2nd place in 14:25.78. Senior Danick Haesler scored 10 points for Darlington by taking first place in the 100 meter hurdles in 17.41. Haesler scored an additional 10 points for the Redbirds by taking the 300 meter hurdles in 45.78. 

The relays saw a first-place finish for Albany’s 4x100 team of junior Beckett Wachholz, senior Caleb Smith, junior Kamron Parker, and freshman Brooks Wachholz winning in 50.29. Argyle-Pecatonica took first place in the 4x200 meter relay with the team of junior Treydon Ambs, sophomore Alex Domini, senior Korvin Ferrell and senior Garrett Phillipson going the distance in 1:46.58. Argyle-Pecatonica’s 4x400 meter relay team grabbed another first place finish with Phillipson, junior Bryce Slater, junior Emerson Koch, and sophomore Alex Fernandez finishing on top in 5:34.93. The Darlington Redbirds won the 4x800 meter relay as sophomore Phoenix Johnson, sophomore Marcus Kendall, senior Martin Lobato, and senior Landon King took home 1st place in 9:53.25.

First place in the boys high jump went to Dax Paquin of Black Hawk. The boys long jump belonged to senior Alex Roe of Monticello with a long jump of 19 feet, three inches. Junior Kamron Parker of Albany was the first place winner in the triple jump with a jump of 37 feet, 3.50 inches. The first place winner in the boys shot put was senior Caleb Smith of Albany with a toss of 43 feet, nine inches. In the discus, senior Beau Bredeson of Black Hawk achieved a first place finish with a throw 120 feet, two inches.

In girls, first place Argyle-Pecatonica had 163 points, Darlington was second with 117 points. Black Hawk finished third with 88 points. In fourth place was Belmont with 78, fifth place Monticello had 62 points, and Albany placed sixth with 48 points.

Sophomore Maddy Place of Black Hawk was first in the girls 100 meter dash in 14.15 seconds. Place also took the 200 meter dash in 28.78 seconds. In the girls 400 meter dash, junior Adalee Berget of Darlington came out on top in the finals with a time of 1:06.98. Berget was also the winner of the 400 meter run with a first-place time of 2:36.89. The 1600 meter run went to sophomore Mirielle Smith of Monticello as she topped all runners in 6:45.00. Junior Mazie Theorin of Argyle-Pecatonica picked up 10 points for the Orioles with her first-place finish in the 3200 meter run. Junior Loretta Tisch of Argyle-Pecatonica had a big day in the hurdles as she took first in the100 meter hurdles in 18.50 seconds and finished first in the 300 meter hurdles in 55.52 seconds.

Another 10 points went to Argyle-Pecatonica in the 4x100 meter relay as freshman Katy Wunsch, freshman Isla Jorenby, freshman Elise Kuebli, and junior Brianna Gaertig raced to a time of 1:02.36. The 4x200 meter relay was won by the Black Hawk team of junior Mya Milz, sophomore Maddy Place, senior Molly Edler, and sophomore Emily Curran in 2:01.82. Argyle-Pecatonica’s 4x400 meter relay team of sophomore Olivia Anderson, sophomore Dalaney Fisher, sophomore Sophie Howard, and sophomore Avery Webster took home first place in their relay in 5:44.15. The Darlington Redbirds were first place winners in the 4x800 meter relay as senior Stella McGowan, sophomore Marta Roelli, sophomore Brianna Vazquez, and sophomore Austia Stauffacher crossed the finish line in 11:27.79. 

First place in the girls high jump went to Darlington’s Clara Solverson, a junior. In the girls long jump, freshman Emma Thompson came in first place in the long jump with a jump of 13 feet, 11 inches. Argyle-Pecatonica dominated in the girls triple jump as sophomore Brooke Wellnitz took first place with a jump of 32 feet, six inches. Sophomore Aleah Harris was second, and junior Loretta Tisch was third. Harris also was the first place finisher in the shot put with a toss of 29 feet, four inches. Monticello junior Lucy Scott took first place in the discus with her throw of 107 feet, six inches.
