AP girls win Six Rivers

PATCH GROVE — Argyle-Pecatonica’s girls track and field team took first place in the Six Rivers Conference meet held Thursday, May 22 at River Ridge High School. The meet was originally scheduled for Monday, May 19 at UW-Platteville, but an on-campus shooting delayed the meet.

Albany freshman Emma Thompson was the champ in the girls 800-meter run (2:36.44) and 1,600-meter run (5:42.39), winning by more than a second and a half. Teammate Lillyana Morales was the champion in the discus (103-feet, 4-inches).

Loretta Tisch of AP was first in the 100-hurdles (17.17) and the 300-hurdles (50.15).

AP’s quartet of Olivia Anderson, Maddy Webster, Dalaney Fisher and Tisch won the 1,600-relay (4:36.58). Lexi Harrison, Brianna Gaertig, Chloe Clark and Isla Jorenby were second in the 400-relay (57.15). Gaertig, Jorenby, Harrison and Elise Kuebli were second in the 800-relay (1:59.10). Brook Wellnitz was second in the triple jump (32-3.5), with teammates Tisch (32-03) and Aleah Harris (32-00) finishing third and fourth.

Black Hawk’s tandem of Mya Milz, Makayla Curran, Emily Curran and Maddy Place won the 400-meter relay (53.88) and the 800-meter relay (1:53.21). Molly Edler, Jaci Kammes, Milz and Place won the 3,200-relay (10:33.84).

Emily Curran was second in the 100 (13.43).

Monticello’s Kennadee Johnson was the high jump champion (4-08).

On the boys side, River Ridge was the team champion, with AP finishing third.

AP had the first two finishers in the 800 — Grant Kuberski (2:10.84) and Garrett Phillipson (2:12.43). Freshman Ayden Slater was second in the 200 (23.66)  and Phillipson was second in the 400 (54.75). 

The Vikings were second in the 400-relay, as Barrett Ferrell, Bo Stateler, Korvin Ferrell and Alex Domine ran a time of 48.11. The same group was second in the 800-relay (1:41.17). Eli Harris, Braydon Slater, Kuberski and Phillipson were second in the 1,600-relay (3:42.46). Domine himself was second in the triple jump (38-2.5)

Monticello’s Alex Roe was the champion in the long jump (19-00) and triple jump (38-8.5). He was second in the high jump (5-05).

Albany’s Caleb Smith won the shot put title (49-05). Smith was second in the 100-meter dash (11.47).

Black Hawk’s James Holland’s mark of 41-9.5 in the shot put was half an inch ahead of teammate Griffin Komprood for second place.
