Belleville 55, Lodi 47

LODI — What more can Toria Devoe do? The Belleville senior could not be stopped as she scored 39 points, made four three-pointers, and drained 19 of 20 at the free throw line to lead the Wildcats to a 55-47 win over the Lodi Blue Devils in a Capitol Conference crossover game on Monday, Jan. 26.

Devoe had 13 points at halftime, then went off for 26 points in the second half.

Belleville coach Eric Liegel said he knew Lodi would be a tough team to beat and was relieved to get the win.

“I was proud with how we kept them in front of us for the most part and limited second chance opportunities. Toria obviously had a huge game points-wise, but we did some nice things ball movement-wise and were patient when we needed to be. When the game got close down the stretch, Cora (Funseth) had two huge baskets to keep us in front before we were able to make some free throws to ice it,” Liegel said.

Funseth finished with eight points for Belleville. Belleville improved to 10-6 with the win. The Wildcats (4-0 Capitol South) played a nonconference game at Prairie du Chien on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
